I Canceled $1,100/Month in Software and Nothing Broke
After 3 years on Go High Level, I shut it down in one afternoon. Replaced $1,100/month in SaaS with tools that cost a fraction of that - and run better. Here is exactly what I did and what replaced what.
In March 2026, I shut down Go High Level.
Not because it stopped working. Because I realized I was paying $1,100 a month to rent my own business back from a software company. My contacts, my automations, my pipelines - all of it sitting in someone else's database, locked behind a monthly fee.
What I Was Paying For
GHL covered CRM, email marketing, SMS, calendar booking, landing pages, and community hosting. On paper, an all-in-one. In practice, I was paying for features I did not use, on a platform that raised prices every year, with no way to own what I had built.
What Replaced It
The entire stack now runs on tools I control, with no lock-in and no seat fees:
CRM: DuckDB - a local database I own. 3,000+ contacts. Zero monthly cost. Queried directly with Claude.
Email: Resend for transactional emails, Mailgun for newsletters. Pay per send. No monthly seat fees.
SMS: Twilio direct. Same cost per message I was paying inside GHL, minus the GHL markup.
Calendar: cal.com. Free plan covers everything I need. Stripe connected directly.
Automation and ops: Claude. Not a workflow tool. An operator that reads the CRM, drafts emails, analyzes data, and runs the inbox.
What This Actually Felt Like
I expected the switch to take weeks. It took one afternoon. The hardest part was exporting contacts from GHL - the actual rebuild took maybe three hours.
The bigger realization: I had been paying for complexity I did not need. GHL solved problems I did not have. The sovereign stack solves the problems I actually have - and the tools fit together better because Claude connects them.
The Numbers
GHL: $1,100/month. Sovereign stack: pay per usage - typically under $40/month for a business my size. Annualized difference: $12,840 back in the business. Not in someone else's pricing model.
The goal was never to be cheap. It was to own what I built. Every dollar I stopped paying to GHL went back into the Lab, into content, into the actual business.
What You Can Take From This
You do not need an all-in-one tool. You need tools that do one thing well, connected by an AI that understands your business. That combination costs less, breaks less, and scales further than any SaaS bundle.
I teach the full stack inside AI Avengers Lab - every tool, every connection, and how to migrate without losing your data or your momentum.
